Privacy Policy
What this site collects, what it does not, and how to ask us to delete anything you have sent.

The short version
Lumen & Ledger collects analytics data through Google Analytics 4 and whatever you type into the contact form. We do not sell personal information, we run no display advertising, and we set no advertising cookies of our own. Amazon sets its own cookie when you follow an affiliate link, which is how affiliate programs work.

What we collect
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and which links are clicked. It records page views, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser type, referring site, and interactions we have specifically instrumented — principally clicks on outbound buy links, which is how we measure whether the site is useful to anyone.
Google processes this data as our processor and its own terms apply. Google Analytics sets cookies or equivalent identifiers. You can prevent it entirely with Google's opt-out browser add-on, with a tracking blocker, or by declining cookies where your browser or region provides that control.
The contact form
If you write to us, we receive your name, email address, chosen topic and message. That message is delivered to our mailbox by email and is used only to reply to you. We do not add contact-form addresses to any mailing list, because we do not operate one.
Spam protection
The contact form records the time the page loaded and the IP address of the submission, and holds a per-IP submission count in memory for one hour. This is how we block automated spam without a captcha. The IP address is not stored beyond that hour and is not linked to any other record.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or share personal information for money or for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- We do not run display advertising, so there are no ad-network trackers on this site.
- We do not operate a newsletter or a mailing list, so there is nothing to be subscribed to.
- We do not create profiles of individual readers or attempt to identify anyone.
- We do not require an account, and there is nothing to log into.
Affiliate links and cookies
When you click an Amazon link on this site you are redirected through our own /go endpoint, which adds our Amazon Associates tracking tag and sends you to Amazon. Amazon then sets its own cookie so it can attribute a purchase to us. That cookie is Amazon's and is governed by Amazon's privacy notice, not by this policy.
The redirect itself sets no cookie. Non-Amazon retailer links on this site are plain, untracked links with no affiliate parameters at all — we have joined no other program.

How long we keep things
Analytics data is retained according to the retention period configured in Google Analytics. Contact-form emails are kept in our mailbox for as long as they are useful for handling your enquiry and any follow-up. Spam-protection IP counts are held for one hour and then discarded.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of personal information we hold, and to object to certain processing. To exercise any of them, email info@lumenandledger.com. In practice the only personal information we hold about a reader is a contact-form message, and we will delete it on request.
Children
This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information through the contact form, tell us and we will delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be described here rather than made silently.
