The one criterion that sorts them
Rank brands on how much of their specification they publish. A manufacturer that prints a runtime beside its maximum output has measured it and expects to be checked. A manufacturer that prints a large lumen figure and nothing else has told you about an emitter. That single test sorts this category more reliably than price does.
The brands, and what each publishes
Sofirn — output per dollar, incomplete sheets
Publishes maximum output, beam distance, cell type, water rating, weight, dimensions, emitter and charge time. Does not publish per-mode runtime on the pages we read. Best at raw output for the money: 2,000 lumens and IPX8 on the SC31 Pro at a price nothing mainstream approaches. Weakest on documentation completeness and batch consistency.
Wurkkos — the budget brand that publishes runtime
Publishes everything Sofirn does, plus runtime at maximum and at minimum output, plus the automatic step-down behavior. One hour fourteen minutes at 1,400 lumens on the TS10 is a figure most brands would not print. Best at color rendering too — 90 CRI emitters at a budget price. This is the value brand to buy if documentation matters to you.
ThruNite — simple lights on ordinary cells
Publishes maximum output, battery type, mode count, switch type and clip detail. Does not publish per-mode runtime or a water rating for the Archer 2A V3. Best at AA-powered simplicity, which is a genuinely useful niche for glovebox and drawer duty.
NEBO — the most complete tables in retail
Publishes lumens, runtime and beam distance for each mode on most products — and states the 30-second turbo duration on the SLIM Mini 500 outright. Goes quiet on runtime for its flagship turbo modes and on water ratings for some models. Best at retail availability and at dual-power Flex-Power designs. Weakest on sealed cells in its flagships.
Energizer — wide distribution, sealed cells
Publishes output, runtime, beam distance, water and drop ratings, and states plainly that the Vision HD uses non-removable lithium-ion batteries. Does not publish a runtime for the 3500XT-R's headline output. Best at availability. Weakest, ironically for a battery company, on replaceability.
COAST — runtime and reach over raw output
Publishes output, beam distance and runtime, and sells its ZITHION-X battery as a separate part. Does not publish a water rating for the HP7R. Best at endurance: 300 lumens, 352 meters and up to 33 hours. Weakest on the lumens-per-dollar ranking, which does not capture what it is good at.
Streamlight — the most complete documentation here
Publishes per-mode lumens, runtime and beam distance for every mode and both battery chemistries, plus IPX and tested impact ratings — and publishes the Wedge's boost mode as a 35-second burst. Not a budget brand, and included because it sets the standard the budget brands are measured against.
Maglite — parts, warranty and a decade
Publishes output, runtime at full output, eco runtime, beam distance, fast-charge time, weight, warranty and a cycle rating for the LiFePO4 pack in the ML150LRS. Does not publish an IP rating for the ML150LR. Best at service life and spare parts. Poor value on the ratio and excellent value over a decade.

For raw output per dollar, Sofirn: 2,000 lumens and IPX8 on the SC31 Pro. For buying today from a shop, NEBO publishes the most complete mode-by-mode tables in retail.
Are Anker flashlights still available?
We have no verified current information about that product line's status and we are not going to state one. What we can say is that the specification pattern to look for is the same regardless of brand: a named replaceable cell, a published runtime, a water rating with a number, and a named emitter.
Are cheap rechargeable flashlights any good?
Many are, and for a specific reason: the LED emitters, drivers and 18650 cells that budget brands buy are the same commodity parts the expensive brands buy. What you give up at the low end is documentation, quality control between batches, and a warranty worth using. The way to shop it is to look for a brand that publishes runtime figures — a manufacturer willing to print how long the turbo mode lasts is telling you something about the rest of the specification.
