Three nights off-grid is a runtime problem with a weight constraint. The turbo figure has almost nothing to do with it.

The camping specification
For camping, buy on low-mode runtime, weight, and whether the lamp accepts ordinary batteries. Petzl's ACTIK CORE runs on its CORE pack or three AAA cells and weighs 88 grams. Black Diamond publishes 6 lumens for 225 hours on the Spot 400-R. Those two figures — a fallback and a very long low mode — matter far more than any turbo number.
Work out what you actually do with a headlamp at a campsite and the specification writes itself. You cook with it, you find things in a tent with it, you walk to the toilet block with it, and you read with it. All of those are 5-to-50-lumen tasks. The only thing you need real output for is walking on rough ground in the dark, and that is a fraction of the total hours.

Three nights, worked through
Assume four hours of lamp use per night across three nights: twelve hours total, mostly at low. On Black Diamond's published figures, twelve hours at 6 lumens uses about five percent of the Spot 400-R's capacity, and twelve hours at 200 lumens would exceed its published eight-hour figure. On NITECORE's published figures the NU25's 45 hours at 6 lumens covers the trip several times over.
So a fully charged modern lamp handles a long weekend on low without difficulty. The problem starts at a week, or when the lamp went out with you at sixty percent, or when someone left it on inside a pack. That is where a AAA fallback stops being a nicety.
Red mode is a camping feature, not a gimmick
Two reasons. It preserves your dark adaptation, so you can find something in a pack and still see the ground when you look up. And it does not blind the person opposite you in a tent, which is a social feature as much as an optical one. Most lamps here have red; what varies is whether it is one press away.

Bring a lantern too
A headlamp lights whatever you are looking at, which makes it a poor tool for a group sitting around a table. Everyone gets blinded every time anyone turns their head. A small lantern hung from a tent pole solves it, and the two together weigh less than most people expect. Streamlight publishes 200 lumens for seven hours, 50 for thirty-seven, and a red mode at 192 hours on the Siege AA, which runs on AA cells and floats.
Common questions
How many lumens do you need for camping?
Far fewer than most people buy. Cooking, reading and moving around a tent are 5-to-50-lumen tasks; walking a rough path wants 100 to 200. A lamp with a published low mode measured in tens or hundreds of hours is worth more on a trip than one with a big turbo figure, because low is where you will spend almost all of your hours.
Should a camping headlamp be rechargeable or take AAA batteries?
Both, ideally — which is exactly what Petzl's HYBRID CONCEPT provides on the ACTIK CORE: the CORE rechargeable pack for normal use and three ordinary AAA cells when there is no power. If you have to choose, rechargeable is better for weekends near a car and AAA is better for anything longer or further from a socket.
How many lumens do I actually need?
For walking a dog, finding a fuse box or reading a map, 100 to 300 lumens is plenty and will run far longer. For a garage, a yard or a campsite, 500 to 1,000 lumens is comfortable. Above about 2,000 lumens you are buying a burst rather than a mode, because almost no handheld light can shed that much heat continuously.
